The joint assessment mission by the Islamic Development Bank and the National Community Agricultural Estates Program to the Niombato Community Agricultural Estate (DAC), located in Keur Saloum Diané in the Fatick region, took place on May 6 and 7, 2026, as part of the Agricultural Entrepreneurship Development Project in Senegal (PDEAS).
The purpose of this visit was to assess the progress of the work, identify any operational constraints, and define the actions needed to accelerate the project’s implementation.
SCET-TUNISIE, in a consortium with BETICO-Mali, conducted the project studies between July 2021 and June 2022 and has been responsible for monitoring and supervising the construction work since April 2024. The project, led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Livestock and financed by the IDB, aims to develop attractive agricultural activities to stimulate the local economy, promote youth employment, and sustainably improve the living conditions of rural populations. Key components of the project:
- 60 km of pipelines for irrigation and drinking water
- 22 km of access roads
- An administrative complex with housing
- Infrastructure for livestock production
- 400 ha of irrigated land
- A storage and packaging center
- A fish farm
- A 1 MWp solar power plant
